René Egli

René Egli is founder and owner of the world´s biggest windsurfing and kiteboarding center, situated on Fuerteventura, Canary Islands (www.rene-egli.com). Being a former sport managing director in several European sport destinations for Intersport, his achievement creating a specialized sportive tourist sector is considered a milestone in history of windsurfing and kiteboarding holidays.

In 1984 René introduced this holiday-form focused on one particular activity and converted it due du permanent investments in infrastructure and customer requirements into the trade’s benchmark with almost 30.000 annual clients.

Introducing also an own clothes brand in 1986 and own café-bars in order to offer a complete holiday experience, rounded up the parts of the “René Egli Group”-company. For 29 consecutive years he is also organizing the biggest media relevant event on the Canary Islands - the Windsurfing and Kiteboarding World Cup.

In 2007 René received for his outstanding achievements benefitting the general public interest of Fuerteventura the bronze medal on behalf of the island´s government.
